Vehicle

From SporeWiki, the knowledge base dedicated to Spore

Jump to: navigation, search

In the Civilization Phase, the majority of the players interactions, such as War, setting up trade routes to buy other cities and Religious Conversions, are conducted from vehicles, such as tanks, boats and helicopters. However, there are other ways to take over your planet, and these will require additional vehicles. All of these will be editable in the Vehicle editor. Players' vehicles can be seen in the Vehicle Database.

[edit] Vehicles: An Overview

There are three categories of vehicles: Ground, Sea and Air, with each having different terrains they can get to, and are also divided into split into Economic, Religious and Military, depending on the speciality of the city they were created in. There is a limit to the amount of vehicles built, which is based on the amount of housing in the city of it's speciality. See the Vehicle Editor for more details.

[edit] Ground Vehicles

Ground vehicles can utilise wheels, tracks or mechanical legs. These are the first method of interaction for civilizations on your own continent, and you start the Civilisation Phase with the vehicle you designed just before entering gameplay. They are the only way of claiming Spice nodes on land.

[edit] Sea Vehicles

Ocean-going vessels are available from any coastal city, and are, in essence, identical to ground vehicles with the sole (and pretty major) exception of the terrain they travel over, and are the only vehicle able to claim aquatic spice nodes.

[edit] Air Vehicles

Air vehicles are unlocked in the Civilization phase when you capture your fourth city and serve as planes in that they constantly fly around an area and do not hover. Also, air vehicles are incapable of claiming spice nodes. Note: Not purchasing a single aircraft in a game in the civilization stage will result in obtaining the Fear of Flying achievement.

[edit] Mechs

Mechs are essentially humanoid vehicles -- their functions and abilites vary depending on what fiction is being referenced. Mech-like vehicles can be creating, although it is difficult. In the game, they are ground based vehicles, and all mech-based parts are in the ground vehicles creator.

[edit] UFO

The ultimate vehicle type is the UFO. It has its own page, as it will not only bring about the swift end of the Civilization Phase, but also open up the rest of your solar system. Note: These may be seen in Creature stage as well, but they will only abduct random creatures and plants, which may include a posse member if you have one and are near it.
