In the category "Dyvera Articles", do you know why the different tribe articles got deleted?

Because there were empty I believe. I can undelete them if you like, actually I'll do that now...done, feel free to remove the cfd tags from all of them. This can only be related because Robin Williams was one of the lucky few to use the game before it's release, but he has gone into treatment for alcoholism.

As long as I'm here, I have a theory that the game is near completion! If they have enough time to start focusing on consoles, than they must be working on the final kinks and improvements of the PC game. Just a wishfull thinking theory.--Navenfaux 14:03, 9 August 2006 (PDT)

Mason I would like to posted my caveman pen and paper rules in wiki form. It is similar to the Spore Tribal stage but is not made for Spore specificlly. So I am asking you if it is ok to post a few pasges related to to this role playing game i made up. Here is an example of how i plan to do it on my website.

MAQSON! Dude! This is AWSOME! Google made a 3d sketch program, that's possibly easier than making a building in Spore! I think I might even make a few builings and upload them here. Give it another week, then send a duplicate e-mail as a reminder. He may not want to/be able to answer, or more likely, he isn't able to answer based on time restrictions. I was just reading GameSpot's coverage on the game conference. Did you see the article abut the creature editor? There's going to be stuff like Venom and you can add flowers and leaves to your creature. I'm sure it's been disected allready, but I havnt really been looking through the recent changes... When I went to the Creature editor to edit the Creature Parts section, I was very amused to find that there was nothing to edit but the "Creature Edit Bar. There's not even the text next to it! --Navenfaux 07:51, 26 August 2006 (PDT) I guess I go find the bar?

That's because that same image and the text next to it is on several pages. If you scroll down to the bottom of the edit page you'll see this:

Template:Creature editor bar is the template that is referenced like {{Creature editor bar}} in the code, and if you edit that template it'll change it on the couple pages that {{Creature editor bar}} is placed on. This set up while being slightly harder to edit makes it easier to display the same information on several pages. Could you set up a video category/way to organize videos? Like having a page for each specific video, or something? I'm not exactly sure what the best way to do this is. I'm going to put the videos in each one (like the one in my profile) Zorlac

I should have these up ASAP, tonight or maybe tomorrow. Apparantly you can't "space" indent the video code. There is no real way of displaying it easily as far as I know, maybe if I use escape codes for the braces, I'll have to look into it. Hey, does "Complete SporeWiki: Database input messages make everything functional and be sure all the databases are working correctly." or "Fix broken links on all the Images galleries" possibly refer to the fact that the templates for the in-game creatures are apparently busted somehow? For instance, Garoupa, Tash, Featherump, et cetera? If not, I wanted to make sure that had been brought up.

Actually, those pages were based off of Template:GameCreature which I recently deleted and stupidly didn't change all of it's "what links here's". Thankfully someone else has. I'm also going to be updated the Template:Creature and all the other creation infoboxes to only display rows for info which exists, and not the "N/A" stuff. It was just easier to leave that as is for now and later when I get the time to update the infoboxes, the information will display even better then it is. Remember when I wanted to add information to the creature editer bar? And I did. Where did it go? and why didn't anyone tell me they undid it? If you go to Template:creature editor bar and then click on it's history tab, you'll see this, my edit as the most recent edit, along with my edit summary "moving info to individual pages, this should be a very rough summary, feel free to bring them more up to date though." Everything you put there was moved to the (previously near empty) individual part pages. It was a great addition, but I think the editor bar is better off with a very summarized sentence (or MAYBE two) about what we can find it that group. If you look at each page, everything you said is there, with a source so it is definitly serving a purpose. In all honesty if I contacted ever person who's edits I changed, we'd never get anything done. But for something useful, I'm not just going to remove it without talking to you, but in my opinion a slightly move of info makes navigation useful. -- Mason11987 (T - C - E) 17:25, 2 September 2006 (PDT)

Is it possible to make the Wiki just search for certain kind of pages when you click on the random page link or is it always completely random? Sometimes, I try to look for actual articles on Spore, but I can only find creature pages. I think it would be great if there was a link to Spore articles and other just for creatures. But I don't think it's possible. Is it? Another way I think it could be done is if there was a link to a page with all the articles and other with a link to all the creatures, but I realize that it would take a long time and a huge amount of work to do. It was recommended to me to create a new creations namespace, so that you could exclude all creatures from being searched. If you thinkn it would be a good idea Mason, I can manually add a nnew Creation: namespace and we could migrate everything over to it. Just get back to me on what you think. Zorlac

I never thought of that... I think a namespace named something like Creation: and a namespace named "Concept": would actually make a lot of things work out a lot better then then what we had before. If you made it act just like the (Main) space pages but with "creation" and "concept" in the tab where "article" is, it would be awesome. I'll just have to retweak all the inputboxes then gradually move everything to the new namespace. I think this will work out much better. I don't know if you'd think it was a good idea, but maybe a Portal: namespace to go along with it.

So we'd have Portal:Naucean linking to Creation:Naucean and Concept:Naucean, what's nice is that I can automate the name field of all the infoboxes that way and it'd get rid of the ugly parenthesis. I like the idea. -- Mason11987 (T - C - E) 10:52, 4 September 2006 (PDT)

Hey Mason! Sooo.... The only news is that there is no news. Hummm. Well anyway, I have a "game" that any Spore fan should love! It's called Second Life. I've pretty much been spending as much time playing as I plan to Spend Playing Spore. SL is like Spore.. because it's HUGE, you can do almost everything, customize your character, BUILD, fly, collect, participate, communicate... all that good stuff. It's free for the most part. You can buy money in the game, but it unlike other games, you can do just as well NOT forking over money. I guess if you are skilled enough, you can make money in the game, AND somehow switch them REAL money. There's Events anything from Live Music to Classes on how to do stuff, to alot of other stuff. I read about in Popular Science (its a magazine). No i'm not THAT big a nerd, its just got some cool stuff. According to PopSci, eventually we could all work in SL. Bureaucrats have the power to appoint other Sysops. And sysops have some addition tools to deal with things on the wiki (delete/undelete, reverting tool, protection, ect.). no problem, in general, stuff in Talk: pages sticks around after it is settled so others can refer to it. Until it needs to be archived that is. This is a good example of something that could come up again and would be valuable to keep there for reference later.
If you're looking for something to do, you could help me out with my upcoming mission to update the wiki with recent news. A list of links to newsworthy threads was posted in the gamingsteve forums by aquaman [2] and I plan to go through them and update any articles here that need it, and perhaps create some more, feel free to do the same if you're intersted. Hey. I was told that my Submission to the Creature content, Bosmer/Bosmeri, needs to be cleared as it is Copyrighted content. The Said content is from The Elder Scrolls Series (Namely ES: Oblivion).

Never played the ES games before, so all I can say is that if the thing you are writing about is unquestionably a character from another game, then it's probably not something that should be here. Of course using non-copywrited creatures (such as real ones) is perfectly fine for the major part of a creation, but if you are working from copywrited content, the being you are imagining would have to be only inspired by that thing, rather then a copy of it. In Spore itself, something completly based off of a copywrited being may be forcibly removed, or it may not, but here we should be a little more strict. Besides, might as well be a little more creative then simply copying someone else right? Here is something I was working on a while ago, purely my own idea, I'm sure anyone can do something like that as I'm not exactly the most creative person you'll find here (that'd be Hydromancerx I'd say, take a look at his Naucean). -Well the Bosmeri name is a term I use for Spore Alone, and I created several of the ideas mentioned, namely Military, Economy and Goverment. The Wood Elf/Bosmer are very Good Archers and theives in Elder Scrolls, So I took that general Idea and Ran with it. User:Comrade

I imagine it would, but I don't believe vandalism is a serious issue here (it never used to be, and only recently there was the one high-profile incident above). MediaWiki isn't really designed for that kind of power and while it may be possible with a hack, I don't think that would be for the best. I'm very often accessible by leaving a note on my talk page (it pings my e-mail, and then my desktop), even if I'm not very active on the wiki itself. How do you delete articles? I am creating a new creature plus adjoining solar system, planet etc pages and I am dividing it in the Naucean style to stop it becoming a block of text. I have made many revisions so I have a lot of unwanted articles.

[edit] Question About Concept/In-Game Content Pages

I have a question that I just noticed - both conceptual and in-game pages have "Content:CreatureName" as the page to create. So, when you have a concept creature already added and wish to add another page for its in-game appearance, what do you do? Is this an error or will the pages really not "overwrite" each other? I had gone in to make the in-game page for my Azghora, but when clicking it, it states the page already exists, yet asks if I wish to continue to create the new page. Hi Mason!

I see that you spoke with Angie several months ago. I work with Angie on the Wikia Gaming team. I'd like to run a simple contest for the wiki just to encourage people to participate and make sure that they know about the site. I have a copy of Spore Creature Creator signed by Will Wright, along with a few other prizes, that I plan to give away. I was thinking about doing something simple such as having a contest to see who can create the best creature (judged by the Wikia Staff), or something of that nature. Do you think people would have fun with that? Are you active in any other Spore-related communities that might find such a giveaway interesting?

Let me know what you think. I'd like to get this off the ground as soon as possible because buzz about Spore Creature Creator is still pretty strong.
