Surpraxxia is a telluric planet which shows a surprising variance of local biomes. It is home to many species, the most well-known of which is the Green Surpraxx.

Size/Type: A large scale medium-sized terrestrial planet currently experiencing a somewhat hazy atmosphere.
Climate: Currently, the planet is suffering under common tectonic shifts and eruptions from the planet's massive super volcano, which throws ash into the sky that creates ash storms all over the neighboring continents and islands. However, the planet is typically calm outside of glacial locks during ice ages.
Water Content: While a significant portion of the planet is covered in water, much of the surface is in fact land. Much of the oceans of the world fill in the huge abyssal crevices between the small continents.
Habitability: Much of the world is quite habitable, and every biome appears to support a plethora of life. However, the many Surpraxxi species that dominate various biomes can be quite deadly, and should not be trifled with for any reason, as their hives may number in the thousands. A number of the small species which fill the niches of mice and insects of Earth can also end up boarding a landing party's vessel, and a good number of them have become known pests to the galaxy at large, leaving a party to take caution when "leaving the door open".

Cyclosects are small, winged invertebrates which the Surpraxx lineage evolved from millions of years ago. An ancient taxon, they are quite similar to the much newer Surpraxx in many way, but no similarity so obvious than the existence of the solitary compound eye in the middle of the head. Cyclosects generally possessed a pair of pincers at the end of their abdomen-tails, which they used for a number of usages, dependent on the species in question.

The Formisuchids are a taxon of species which evolved out of the planet's last ice age 75 million years ago. Descended from the Woolly Entosuchids, they live in subterranean colonies. As such, they are built for excavating dens; the primitive species utilize adapted front legs for this procedure, used to excavate the dirt with maximum efficiency. However, later lineages adapted to use their mouths: it was this type which led to the prominent and dominant Surpraxx lines.
