[edit] Physical Appearance
The Bamubon look something like a chimera of a human, an equine ancestor, and a large bird. It walks on 4 5-toed feet (3 hooves, 2 thumbs) on 4 long legs, though can stand or walk about on 2 legs. It can also fly by means of a pair of large, usually lustrous-looking wings composed of a main wing limb and several wing-struts, which multiple feathers branch from. The Bamubon has soft, pinkish skin with scraggly "hair-feathers" on its head, arms, and legs and beautiful feathers on its back and wings. Its head looks something like a human face distorted into a snout, with beady eyes, tiny ears, and a tiny humanoid nose halfway down its snout.
[edit] The Bamubon Feather
The Bamubon feather is a strange, almost fern-like organ used by the Bamubon and their relatives for insulation, locomotion, and even defense. It consists of a single, quill-like strut, which branches out into more feathery filaments. This feather, like a bird feather, is composed of a very complicated structure of filaments branching out into smaller filaments, and all of these can lock together.
[edit] Their Relationship with the Heaebon
When the Bamuban first came into contact with the Slavers, whom had reached the civilization phase at the time, they were taken by the Slavers as slaves. Their wings clipped to prevent escape, the Bamubon were forced to cater to the every whim of their Heaebon masters. Even after the resistance created by escaped Bamubon caused the ruling Heaebon king to sign an Emancipation Proclamation for the Bamubon, they faced awful racism and segregation for over 100 years until their rights were argued and given. Although the Bamubon left Diis to form their own culture many centuries ago, they still hate the Slavers. However, despite their hatred of the Heaebon, they have not changed the name given to their race (which literally translates into "unwholesome wing"), arguing that it sounds dramatic and proud, notwithstanding its racist meaning.
