[edit] Anatomy

Name: Arashki (Plural - Arashki)

Type: Cold-blooded amphibious quadrapedal vertebrate.

Lifespan: Up to 220 years, but some Arashki have been known to live up to 245.

Lifestyle: Solitary carnivorous ambush hunter, primarily tribalistic in nature.

Habitat: Cool, clean (very important) streams, preferably near a forest or wide grassland. Arashki are very territorial.

Size: About the same size as a modern day crocodile but more heavily built and with stronger and wider shoulders. Males are generally longer and bulkier than females.

Weight: About 1.5 tonnes. Very muscular.

Diet: Anything big enough to pounce on and/or drag into the water. Following which, an Arashki will filter the stream with its oversized gills and remove the remains of its prey, depositing it somewhere else.

Armor: The Arashki's oversized gill-frills and scales are more than enough protection; however like a modern day crocodile, its belly is a soft spot, but as it gets older it forms a thick protective membrane.

Method of Hunting: Ambushes prey by either dragging it into the water when it comes too close to the edge of the Arashki's little stream, or if it is very hungry it will come up to land and pounce on some poor creature around its stream. Rips prey apart with triangular canines and slices with razor-sharp back teeth.

Reproductive Rate: Reaches maturity at 40. The average Arashki male mates only about 5 times in its whole life.

Gestation Period: 3.3 Earth years.
